It's that time of the year again....Spring!

Spring is the time of renewal.

Flowers are blooming, we are seeing warmer temps (most of the time), the sun is out more, and more people are out and about.

Spring is just a great time of the year after a long cold and dark winter.

And Spring is also a great time to clean - not just basic household chores that are done every day - but some of the bigger chores that are more seasonal and still need to be done.

In this article we are going to go over 5 Spring Cleaning Ideas that we believe should be done every spring.

Of course Spring carpet cleaning is going to be one of them, but there are also going to be some others that we think are great Spring Cleaning ideas.

5 Great Spring Cleaning Ideas

This article is not going to be about time-saving tips or Spring Cleaning Hacks - nothing like that, but just recommendations for  what we think are good things to focus on for Spring Cleaning.

So let's get started.

Spring Carpet Cleaning

1. Spring Carpet Cleaning - Ok, we are going to start out with carpet cleaning because, well, carpet cleaning is extremely important to indoor air quality and the health of your home.

Carpet is something you and your family walk on every day, and probably lay
on or at least sit on in front of the television. You might also have babies that
crawl on the carpet; so having clean carpets is always a good idea.

Carpet is also the biggest filter in your home, so having your carpets cleaned on a regular basis is important for indoor air quality.

It is also a great idea to have a set time every year (preferably twice a year) to have your carpets cleaned - and Spring is one of those set times that is just perfect.

Spring Upholstery Cleaning

2. Upholstery Cleaning - Yes, we clean upholstery but recommending getting your upholstery cleaned every spring is not selfish on our part, it is just a really good idea.

Upholstery is obviously something you sit on and probably sleep on occasionally. It needs to be cleaned regularly - just like carpet! You don't just clean upholstery for appearance; upholstery should also be cleaned for health and good indoor air quality - just like carpets.

Your upholstery gets much more soil deposited on it than you probably recognize. Body oils,  dirt, spilled food and drink can quickly turn your upholstery into a...well... a dirty pit.

So Spring is a really good time to also have your upholstery cleaned and protected.

Spring Air Duct Cleaning

3. Air Ducts - There is no question you should have your air ducts cleaned on a regular basis, and Spring is a great time to do this. You should also check your furnace filters and probably replace them in the Spring.

Ducts can get dirty FAST. If your air ducts are dirty and your filters are not working properly, then dirty air is being forced into your home. Not good. Air duct cleaning and furnace cleaning can also save you money by helping your system run more efficiently.

Spring Closet Cleaning

4. Closets. Yep, if you are like most people your closets probably need a good going-through and Spring is a terrific time to do that.

Closets can not only get unorganized fairly quickly, they can accumulate a lot of dust and other dirt that most people just do not pay attention to. The typical "out of sight out of mind" thing is how most people deal with closets.

And when we say closets - we mean ALL closets. Every closet in the house. Go through your closets, get rid of things you do not want. Organize them. Clean the carpets in the closets - if there is carpet.

Spring Kitchen Cleaning

5. The Kitchen. Ok, you say you clean your kitchen every day. Well, that's great. But do you  REALLY clean the kitchen every day? Most people do not.

When we say Spring cleaning is a great time to clean the kitchen we mean REALLY clean the kitchen.

Like a Marine Corps Drill Instructor would want the kitchen cleaned.

The cupboards totally wiped down and cleaned. Underneath the sink totally cleaned out and cleaned.

The stove and oven moved and cleaned behind it and to the sides. The oven and stove cleaned from top to bottom. That type of stove cleaning.

The refrigerator moved and cleaned around and under it. The inside of the refrigerator cleaned from top to bottom and that six month old ham sandwich meat you didn't eat - thrown away!

If you have tile and grout in the kitchen, that should be professionally cleaned. If you have carpet in the kitchen (hopefully not) that should be professionally cleaned.

Those Are Our Top 5 Spring Cleaning Recommendations

The our top Spring Cleaning Recommendations could have easily been 10 more, but we wanted to cover what we think are the most important.

We could have easily added a sixth by including the bathroom (hey, we just did!) but we wanted to keep it to five.

Spring, as we mentioned earlier, is just a great time for renewal.

Just think about walking into your home after YOUR Spring Cleaning and having freshly cleaned carpet, freshly cleaned upholstery, air ducts that are clean and working properly, closets that are organized and clean, and a kitchen that you would be happy to have Gordan Ramsey inspect - oh what a feeling!
